truth be told if your strapped for cash peice together a kit with QUALITY parts over time and set aside money for a good tune cuz thats just as important as the turbo kit if u want something that will last for any period of time thats just my imput tho

as with any build your budjet is goint to determine the overall level of your build. Just like quis84 said, tuning is also key.

First start with rods and pistons, fuel pump that will cost anywhere from $700-800. Depending b or d series. On b series, lower end build new bearings and bore and all that other stuff for the lower end cost about $900 from a good machine shop. That will get you to a least 375-400whp with a good tune.
Injectors cost about $350 for rc eng so get the biggest you can get.
There are alot of turbo kits, rev hard, evans tuning has a turbo kit, full race. I have 2 full race kits and they are great, I also have a greddy kit but spent alot to get it fast.
You first need to decide if you want a street car or race car. then pick a kit.

building your block for your first turbo car is not necassary my first boosted car made like 230 to the wheels like two years ago and i thought it was a rocket ship granted when u get used to the power u want more. but from what it sounds like my man is on a budget.if u have it y not buy a full kit if not piece one together i spent 1200 on my first set-up only thing that did not include was tuning so it does not have to cost a grip to boost your car it just take knowledge and patience lots of it. also u dont have to buy every thing new u can get good quality used parts and still be fast and reliable now use that extra money on a good tune

403 cams are going to lose power in the mid and gain it up in the high end. how high are you going to rev?

i wouldnt worry to much about the 403 alot of high hp turbo cars use all motor cams..helps with lag i like full-race but there overpriced a peakboost kit with a gt35r ....aftermarket pistons and rods ..you got a problem..if your only looking for 250-300 keep the boost low...and you could always have the option of uping the boost when you get bored with 300..gotta love turbo
