  • 2011 Accord burning crazy oil

So my buddy buys a 2011 k24 accord, auto, leather. Has 50K on it, warranties up at 60k.

He starts it up one morning and it starts knocking. Legit rod knock.Brings it to the dealer, and they tell him it has no oil in it.

    1. His oil life meter still said 30%
2.He on had the car at that point for maybe 4-5000miles.

Now, since then, the car has burnt 1 quart of oil for every 1000 miles and the dealer is trying to tell him THAT IS WITH IN SPEC.

That is the most absurd fucking thing ive ever heard. I have had hondas with almost 300k miles that have used less oil.

Anyone got any insight? Hes got 6000miles until the warranties up and im saying he needs to get another motor before it expires.

Wow! Tha'd insane cause first ,1. Its a 2011 car ,2. Its from a dealership .don't see why they sell your friend a oil burner , which doesn't burn oil likee tha'd

&& their not gonna refix the motor or fix the problem ? ?

i hear that. But not 1 quart every 1000 miles. Using that logic, the motor would run out of oil before 5000miles. So it would run outta oil before it needs to be changed. Thats not right.

My integra has 215,000 miles, and i beat the shit out of it everyday and it doesnt burn nearly that much.

My CL-s had 220,000 miles and it didnt burn a drop.

Its not right.theres no way these cars are ULEV and burning 1 quart per 1000miles.

so it started knocking after this guy failed to keep the oil at a proper level and now because of his ignorance he wants a new engine for free sounds legit. im willing to bet he also didn't follow the proper engine break in procedure either. and what does the oil life indicator have to do with oil level.

Did they make sure it's not a leak? I've worked on these K24 Accords and they like to leak from the chain tensioner inspection plate on the timing cover prematurley. I've seen them with as little as 15k miles and start to leak. It's a simple fix. My only worried would be, is how long has the engine in your friend's car been driven with little to no oil (if it's loosing that much) possibly already damaging the bearings or what not internally. Also like previosly stated, the oil life indicator is just a maintnence remimder. Not a oil level meter.

It's a 2011 with 50k. You shouldn't need to add a quart of oil every 1000 miles. And you shouldn't have to check your oil everday. The point of buying a new car is to be reliable and not have to work on it every day. 1 quart every 1000miles is rediculous.
