  • gsr tranny question (tranny rebuilders input needed)

ok heres the deal, my gsr tranny on rare occasions at high rpm has the slightest grind in second like once every twenty times. i switched to pennzoil syncromesh and it cleared it up but my case leaks so it came back after a while

ok so my question is do i need to replace the synchro and spring or both and the gear itself

every other gear is fine whether upshifting or down shifting

also ill be doing the work myself to save money and seeing ive ripped my friends tranny apart to put a new diff in it and new main input shaft bearing so i know how to disassemble it and reassemble

Your Syncro failed which has started making the 1st/2nd sleeve grind against the 2nd gear engagement teeth, during 2nd gear engagement. The fact that it only happens once in a great while, you may be safe with replacing just the Syncro. But you'll probably find the gear, sleeve, Syncro, & Syncro spring all worn to replacement level.

Hope I was able to help, if you need any other assistance PM me. Or I'll do the job for you, for an unbeatable price.
