Is this a carbon fiber hood?

Or is it a fiberglass hood with a thin, superficial layer of carbon fiber on the topside for 'looks' like the crap that Seibon, VIS, etc makes?

If its carbon fiber, I've got cash in hand.

Maybe he just wanted it black so the hood don't turn brown from the sun. Or maybe cuz carbon fiber can be painted to whatever color the owner wants. Carbon fiber is not just for looks. Maybe he wanted a light weight hood but still wanted it black. Ever heard of weight reduction? Or maybe if it was unpainted it would attract more attention to ya thieves. Oh but I must say it looks rattle canned. Can see from the spray pattern. But glwyt anyways don't pay any mind to people.

Unfortunately that weight reduction doesnt really add up on these faux carbon fiberglass hoods.

Sheet metal is not that heavy. For the money you spend, its not worth it. To save 3lbs in the hood for $500, shoulda just skipped lunch.

Real carbon fiber body parts have the potential to shave large amounts of weight, but the cost of real CF is not feasible for 99% of enthusiasts.

I was asking a question to the OP I didn't rag on him for painting it black. I just dose t make sense as to maintaining its value, then on top of that its spray painted ? Sounds to me like it already turned brown and he tried a temporary fix. As for the thief thing well if he felt that way why bother spending 400 bucks on it to devalue it with spray paint ?

None that I am aware of.

You will have to have it custom made. And we're really talking big bucks here, 10x what a Carbon Fiberglass hood costs.

This is making me think about this...

FWIW, you can easily sand off the black paint of OP's hood, re-clear, and get that CF look back.
