What's up CT Vtec! I know all of your responses are gonna be wild, It's OK, I'm right there with you. I have this 1989 CRX DX That has been riced out to the max. One piece Body, shaved doors, all that Mad JDM B.S.. I've got One hundred and one people hating! The car turns heads for those who aren't in the " game. " But hated by anyone who drives Honda. I managed to pick up a Si CRX, but the quarters and rear Jack Stands are rusted. Actually rotted would be the best term.. I spend most my day ripping S*** Apart and replacing it according to Honda specs. I have no Knowledge about repairing body panels and that Jazz. I'm looking for a Body man that's cool to shoot the shit with, drink some beers and get to grinding. It's a long shot but hell, If someone is willing to repair this rust/rot,and paint, i'll be happy to throw this Rice mobile their way. Like I said, LONG LONG SHOT.. But hey, I know there's gotta be some halfway decent people around CT. PM me But idk, Post will probably get deleted.

Yeah, I'm not one to half ass things in life. If I have to buy the panels, I might as well sell the car for a price of a MIG welder and some filler, POR-15, and whatever else it will take.. I was really thinking about just getting the stuff to do it and just learn myself.. I'm not gonna give someone this Rice can To fill my rust with peanut butter and call it a day. F that. It's riced for sure. But hey whoever did it took their time and really liked this look. I don't. Doesn't hurt to ask or see other peoples Three cents.

@ letrina = yeah right, you try and pop off the moldings.. Too much work might as well get a "unmolested" crx.. If you read the post you'll see that the works not going into this car....

Since both of the CRX's you own are distressed, have you considered just selling both of them and then buying a CRX that is in a little better shape?

Yeah I have thought about that many times. But there is something about having it restored, doing the work myself, and knowing that another CRX made it out alive that pursues me.. I mean the 89 is Riced out past redline. Whoever did the body work put hours into a look that everyone hates for the most part. There's no body lines, it's been molded front to back. And honestly you wouldn't even tell if you didn't know where they should be. The Si has some rust damage on the rockers and quarters, and some floor spots as well. If I had the know-how on body work, Believe me I would do it myself. It's discouraging to say the least..

I'm all about a good clean restoration, I'm currently working on something similar. But starting with a good base is key. If the rust is that bad, it might not be a good candidate for restoration. Rust that bad on the quarters and the rockers means that every single suspension bolt is probably going to need to be cut off the car. That turns into a massive headache. It might just be more trouble than it's worth.

If you're really set on using this rusted CRX as a donor, I'd say throw the rice rocket up for sale on here and CL for a couple thousand. Someone will buy it, and then have the rust repaired professionally.

Yeah that is the plan. I have the 89' up on craigslist. I was under the car today putting in a new gas tank and that's when i seen the suspension rust. I have no problem grinding away bolts for days, It's the thought of welding correctly and not doing more damage then what's already there. I picked up the Si for 600, and i would love to personally do all the work it takes to do the restoration. I'm starting to change my mind and have it done over the winter. Just need to find the right person to do the job and wouldn't mind me around learning
