The other reason is that I am an avid autocrosser and the EF Si (and arguably the EG Si) is the dominant car in the ST class. They're a blast to drive, cheap to run, and the class is a very even playing field. However, class rules dictate that you are only allowed to change intake, header, exhaust, must have 1 cat, springs, dampers, swaybars, wheels limited to 7.5 inches wide, 140 UTQG street tires no more that 225mm, and front seats (provided the new ones weigh at least 25lbs. each). And there is a formula for using the right parts, quality parts, not the crap you see on the cars around here, to set up the car properly to be competitive.
So, if someone has an EF or EG Si with a bunch of interior pieces missing, or a swapped motor, or a bunch of stupid 'red control arms', or a carbon fiber whatever, there is just too much work on my end to get it class legal.
This is the real reason I say "stock-ish," and the real reason that I considered trading for one. However, I'm doing far too well in my 07 Si this year to actively pursue driving anything else. So unless the right car falls into my lap, I'd rather take the cash.Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.
