This car was built when Toyota was building tanks. Too bad they don't make 'em like they used to. I wouldn't hesitate to drive this vehicle to California tomorrow. Almost everything on it is 100% original, except for a set of ball joints, and brake linings. This was my mother's car. She purchased it in 2005 with 60k miles on it and has put 130,000+ miles on it since then. She commutes 50 miles round trip to work 4-5 times a week and 250 miles round trip to Rhode Island nearly every week, so the majority of those miles are highway miles. The car was maintained at J & R Service Center in Fairfield, CT. We have a stack of reciepts in a nice organized file detailing the service history.
The car is not without its flaws. The interior needs a good cleaning. The divider in the cupholder is broken, there is some delamination on the wood trim around the guages (pictured), and just really hasn't been cleaned in the last 50K+ miles. All of the windows, lights, doorlocks, sunroof work as they should. The display on the radio has some faded pixels, but still works fine.
There is some body damage. The car was backed into at the supermarket, and the trunk is pushed in (pictured). The car was hit in the front drivers side at some point so the fender is slightly pushed in and there is a small tear in the bumper cover (pictured). It was backed into another car, and there is a scrape and dent on the seem between the passenger quarter panel and the rear bumper cover (pictured). There is a small scrape on the rocker panel on the passenger side (pictured). Overall, the car doesn't look too bad in my opinion.
The Check Engine Light is on. Our mechanic has said that it is an O2 sensor. We chose not to replace it at that time. It does not seem to affect the vehicles performance or MPG, but it will need to be replaced before passing emissions. It has always passed emissions with no problems.
The front end does have a few small rattles when going over choppy pavement. I suspect it is worn bushings. Otherwise, the car rides like the day she bought it.
The transmission still shifts smoothly and as it should. It does not appear to slip at all. The motor pulls hard and is smooth with no nocks or noises. I really wouldn't hesistate to drive this car anywhere. I feel bad seeing this car go, but there just isn't any room for it.
Asking price is $4300 $4200 $3800
I am also considering trades for a rust free, stock, EF or EG Si.
Thanks
