i got a 91 hatch i got for sale $800 i just replaced the engine and clutch but it needs some paint and body work but you drive it frine the way it is. I think if you get en ef for your first civic its the best way to go efs are designed so simple and so easy to work on.

buy this, offer him $800 buy an ls swap toss it in your up to $300 for an ls motor and $400 for a gsr tranny thats $1500 right there. your mint with a G to drop on wheels and suspension. then save up for a vtec head and you have an lsvtec eg pretty minty built by you for about $2100 with $400 left over... IMO
