imo, everything goes bad on those setups after a while:
wastegate will be first to go
manifold welds next
bov's are not too well crafted
piping coupler's are not made to hold up to higher power
the kits are made all shiny and chromed to get buyer's attentions, if it came with black piping, i'm sure most people wouldn't of even gave two shits about these turbo kits.
seriously though, you're buying a turbo kit to make power on your swap, it might do that for a little while, but what are you going to do when it goes bad, buy a new swap? for a lot of people that's not a option, i say do things the rightway right off the bat.Originally posted by herminshsso is ctvtec is a wack ass site...

I love Ebay turbo kits. It's cheap, good stuff except for the turbochargers. Although, the turbos do tend to last if you use an oil restrictor at the inlet.
And no I'm not bullshitting. I've never owned one but I've had to deal with other peoples for years.Turbo 86' 325i, 20psi of Megasquirt lovin'.

Amen to that! I've seen brand new Garrett turbos fail faster than an Ebay one. And since it's used for a racing application and not a direct factory replacement good luck on getting a refund or a new turbo.
The thing that kills Ebay turbos is excessive oil pressure since they have low quality oil seals. Use a restrictor and it will be fine.Turbo 86' 325i, 20psi of Megasquirt lovin'.

te weak link on the ebay turbo kit is the manifold. they are made of cheap shit steel and are prone to cracking. i personally love ebay bovs, wastegates intercoolers and the turbos assuming you dont run too hig a boost level because i feel their balancing is suspect. a restrictor will prolong their life as well.
the ebay 57 trims do make power though. my buddy just made 310whp on a jdm gsr on 7psi.
i see alot of bs in this thread from people who seemingly lack real world experience with these parts.
my advice is buy the kit use all the shit except the manifold, and replace it with a cast manifold or id even build you one for a nice price.
cdm parts cant be beat. they are so freaking cheap.
tats my say, and id be willing to bet ive seen handled installed and ran more of these parts than any 3 people on this board combined. if u have additional questions shoot me a pm..
for the 8 or 9 hundred the kit costs, i could set u up with some quality fabbed shit that would look awesome function and last. hit me up

for instance i use 2 38mm xspower wastegates with 1 bar springs, a type s knock off and ebay 26x12x3 cooler on my personal car. car makes almost 500 whp wastegates hold rock solid boost , the cooler works awesome and the bov functions and doesnt leak.
i saved myself an easy 800-1000 dollars because i know alot of the name brand shit is hype.
