  • stock ls turbo how much boost should be run

so i just turboed my integra and will be going to get it tuned soon after i do my clutch and get my wideband installed, was wondering what you guys think i can run reliably for boost. motors got higher miles but has good compression across the board. i have a truck also i drive so this would be driven about 50percent of the time. just want some others opinions. i will hopefully get a motor to build on the side while i drive this one

8 to10 pounds on a good tune is about as high as I would go with reasonable driving under 6500 rpm's before the bottom end will start to let lose . When it comes to boost a good tune (dave!!!) pistons rods bearings and and A MlS head gasket is the key to A long lasting reliable engine. with a well built engine the possibilities are endless as long as you have a good tune. Most Honda motors are not internally designed to run on boost it's not impossible but most of the components that are internally design are for high compression high revving rpms since Honda makes most of its power on top End inertia the cylinder walls can only handle so much atmospheric pressure before they begin to fracture if you do not have much money invested in your Key Bottom end parts and are expecting to keep this motor build I suggest you keep the boost low or invest more money in key components.

im going to dave to get it tuned this saturday, so i really have to figure out if i wanna run 8lbs or 10. maybe ill meet in the middle and run 9, i know how motors are mostly high compression, and like the high r's but im just having this as a fun toy im not gonna be beating this piss out of it, and every where i have read say that stock ls motors and boost are a really good combination and they handle it better than other stock honda motors with higher compression because the ls in a lower compression motor

True. LS are strong motors. Just don't go over the stock redline unless you do arp rod bolts. like everyone else said, 8psi and good tune

the amount of boost is less important than HP. 8 lbs on a 6776 is way more HP than a to4e... 280 hp is probably the highest I would expect from an LS turbo.. dave will help you out.

I recommend no more than a 100 more whp than what the engine would have come with stock. A healthy ls with bolt on usually net 130 whp. So 230 would be a target max with proper supporting mods, exhaust and fuel system.
