  • car over heating after high boost

the car was boosting at 20psi,,, then it start to overheat... we change the thermostat, brand new, blead the air out. Took the car for a spin at 10 psi no overheating, but ones it got to the high boosting it over heat again. We stop on the highway, for about 15 minutes temperature when down. We took off again keep it at low speed, it didnt overheat on the way home... new radiator (fluidyne) new hoses... (maybe will have to modified the thermostat) at this point any ideas are welcome

yes this baby was tune on november, put a different boost controler and it was working fine. will try with a different manifold and a waste gate and see what happen even though i dont think it will make a difference do that it have to do with the heat not the boost that the engine is taking in

5psi, 10psi, 20psi, 50psi. shouldnt make a difference in his problem if its tuned or not. cant say the same for the motor though :).

is the car intercooled? what are your IATs before it overheats?

im willing to bet its as simple as you not bleeding it out completely. sometimes air pockets are trapped in a heater hose or something.

try getting a coolant flush done. if not, jack up the front end of the car, put a spill free-bucket on the radiator cap and let it bleed out for a good 10-15 min.

          then report back.

at least the heat problem was solved...the thermostat wasnt opening fast enough for that much boost going in... the overboost happens to be wastegate is not opening ''believe'' will try to get a different wastegate to try how it works :(

mashimoto radiator all ready... what i did was take the thermostat and snip the bridge of the spring on the back of it and remove it , it will slow down the flow of antifreeze. magic no more over heating... will have to pick one of those race thermostat but one that open at something low like 160 to 170 degrees
