Why vtec???

I've always wondered why people would always boost SOHC vtec engines and leave the non vtec out the pictures but why????? would you be able to get the same preformance out of the non vtec engines as the vtecs??????

Thats exactly what i was thinking about doing but everyone i know keep tellling me to get a y8 head but they can neer give me a clear/solid answer why! Most i hear is, "CUZ ITS VEC YO!!"lol

You can get a y8 head if you want. It's all personal preference.

I had a z6 block y7 pistions and 95 non v head on 6psi on base map, i beat tha piss out of it lol it was pretty quick i beat my boys stock 07 si 4dr by 2 cars from a dig he was pissed lol it never blew up i sold it and its still running strong...i got a z6 now im gonna boost it on 6 psi so im gonna see wat tha diffrence is
