You'll be fine not even close to pushing it, your not required to run full 3in on turbo cars it just helps spool time and for motor to breathe on high boosted cars

Pushing what? I don't really get the question.

just run open exhaust. 2 1/4" piping sucks for boost. disconnect it at the downpipe. or put a cutout in. spool and power will be an incredible difference between 2.25" and 3"

+1 it does make a difference running an open dump as opposed to 2.25" on my car atleast. Sounds cool too hearing the turbo spool up everytime.
But no having a bigger exhaust isnt going to blow your motor unless if you stick a bunch of bananas in your pipes lol.

I ran 14psi therw 21/4 no prob but if you set the.boost at any psi good chance you drop the.exhaust or swap it and get on it then it could spike and could do damage

Bro since you already have the exhaust, order a Y cutout with an electric switch like AWDream suggested, therye cheap, like 350 installed! Disconnect at the down pipe and you'll be amazed! but still have save your normal exhaust. Best of both worlds!

Exhaust cutout FTW! But if your turbo doesn't have a 3"+ outlet off the hot side then it doesn't really matter. You'll be fine with 2.25"...just won't be seeing full potential.
