over heating and white smoke comeing for the turbo

hi i juss had a motor recenlty build and now it overheating but it goes up and down ..but over heats allot and the resovor overfills...and another thing is i juss purchased a new turbo and at first it was leaking oil from the exhaust it still kinda does but when t ideal a large amount of white smoke comes from it...can some one help me

check your compression, it sounds like a head gasket or warped head. what prob happened was the head gasket couldnt handle the pressure made by the new turbo and started presurising the coolant system which is why theres over flow (the coolant cap cant hold back that much pressure) and the white smoke is water that is geting into the turbo or the cylinders and is burning. def check you compression though. over heating could be because its losing coolant and cant cool itself down.

Yea, white smoke usually means you are burning antifreeze, which usually means you have a bad head gasket or if the car didn't run, a sleeve would be cracked. But since the car runs, sounds like a head gasket.

no, but the car is pushing coolant which means there is at somepoint pressure being built in the coolant lines, the only way to get that much pressure in there is if the motor has a bad head gasket or cracked block( but his car still runs) this also means that the coolant has a way into the combustion camber and when burnt wil creat white smoke. but thats just what it think is happening, if you know of a different problem that might occur let the guy know, dont just say theres other things and not tell him.

If hes 100% sure its coolant, than its comming from the block/headgasket most likley. If its jsut white smoke, the turbo could be shot.

When my turbo went, it blew HUGE amounts of white smoke, and i thought it was the headgasket for sure. Turns out it was the turbo, and nothing else.

If it smells sweet, and your sure its coolant, that my finger points to the head gasket/block/head.

If its jsut white smoke, it could be the turbo, or a number of other things.

Does the downpipe have any exsessive oil build-up in it? What type of turbo?

Edit: I re-read that its over heating and his coolant overflow tank is filling up....Time to look for a head gasket.... (ill keep the info up that i just posted, incase it can help fellow members in the future)

the turbo should either be oil fed of have its own reserve. the white smoke could be exhaust smoke if you cracked the head but if you turboed the car and didn't upgrade the radiator you run a chance of overheating the car. an aluminum radiator can handle the heat and the pressure better then stock or oem replacement however your going to need a slimmer fans.. i ordered mine through mishimoto. you need to be car by running all that heat that you didn't warp the head. BTW when turboing a car its always a good idea to start with a new multilayer head and valve cover gaskets no matter how new the others are. Also as an after thought after you fix this problem you might want to check your piston rings.

sounds like a bad head gasket or warped head been thru too many of those.....check the oil dipstick and check for antifreeze or even open the radiator cap and check for oil also....that could be ur problem bro
