  • another boost question

i kno i have asked before but i wanted to start a fresh thread on this seeing i know more about this stuff now...i have a 99 si with the stock b16a2. i put a commetic head gasket in, not the thicker one cause they did'nt have the it in stock when i needed it, Golden eagle head studs. act modified street disc with a heavy duty pressure plate. NGK iridium stage 2 colder plugs. NGK wires. Peakboost kit with a garret t3/t4 .60 trim turbo. im running an EC-Tuning package and having Elm City Customs tune it. i picked a boost controller up from my friend recently and plan on running 10psi. i am wondering do people think this will be reliable, or maybe if i should have it tuned for 8psi instead. i know it will make power no matter what but i would really like to know what people have to say about this. thank you very much.

it is not about what you have it is about how you use it. two pounds of boost is not that much of a difference. talk to your tuner to see what they recommend.

like mister daveedd357 said talk to your tuner and go from there, (with your shopping list)(injectors didnt see on your list)... if the tuner knows his job he will guide you on the right direction with your build up, fallow his directions and you will enjoy your ride for a long time and have a lot of fun

Cometic gaskets are great if you know what you're doing. Companies don't get as big as they do if they put out a shitty product. It's not about how many PSI you run it's about power.. Stock rods will start to fail around 400hp.

Get it on a dyno with the tuner and see if the 2 pounds will actually do you any good. You may find that less boost will give you equal benefits of higher psi. From there you can make an educated decision if you want the extra 2psi or not, in general the lower amount of boost the more reliable (even with a good tune) and when I say reliable I mean there is less stress on everything and the engine may go for 5 years vs. 7 years or 100,000 miles vs. 60,000 miles...

You can be as reliable on more boost as low. IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE TUNE BUDDY. A shitty tune will kill your motor vs a great Dave tune.

that is absolutly wrong. reliablity goes by how much hp your at compared to how much your engine is built. if you have a stock motor and made 300 to the wheels at 15 psi and 300 to the wheels at 12 psi.. guess what it will be just as reliable. how much psi ur pushing dosent mean shit to reliability its how much HP your putting down

its not even a hp level that dictates reliability...

its the tune. a stock motor will run boosted for the lifr of the car as long as it has an excellent tune and premium fuel

After reading the original post I think 10psi would be reliable with a good tune, same with 8psi.
