  • -3 and or -4 an , oil restrictors... please help.

what is the proper line size -3 or -4 for a t3/t4 turbo. are people running oil restrictors? if so what size?

lastly what are the symptoms the turbo is being fed to much oil???

the motor is fresh, the turbo doesn't smoke under load the oil return is working fine, im currently using a -4 with no restrictor.. If i let the car idle for a min or so it will smoke, when driving hard it doesn't.... plugs are clean compression is fine.

    thoughts?

.630 sized hole. About the size of a 1/32 drill bit. I always just get an Earl's fitting -4an to whatever size thread is on the turbo, drill a 1/32 hole in a set screw, tap the -an side of the fitting and thread the setscrew into the Earl's fitting. It costs about 10$ and takes 10 minutes to make.

And yes those are symptoms of overoiling a turbo. The "seals" in the turbo use the same principal as a piston ring and over pressurizing forces oil through the gap.

A standard T3/T4 .60 .63 Garret will be the best choice. Well it's my favorite for LS motors. It has an amazing powerband.
