Those cars get 45mpg because of the cvt so I'd fix it instead of swapping another tranny in if possible

I did this a while back and had trouble locating a cvt transmission ... so what I ended up doin g is switching the car to 5speed... was easier imo since at the time I needed a car asap... now on The transmission your going to notice the mounting point is higher about the same level as the engine mount.... I seen the ek chasis still had the holes honda would have drilled out during manufacturing on the original trans mounting point found in majority ek chasis non cvt.. I drilled those holes out and put the non cvt trans mount.... goodluck any questions pm me

lol, i was thinking the same thing but i heard the repair costs on those are high and theyre known to be problematic. Maybe Mr.Niceguy might have some input on these since he's a transmission beast

JohnnyGSRt- If the car was going to be for me, i wouldve done a B series swap asap, lol. I gotta keep it automatic for my girl so i was thinking about the EX automatic tranny seeing how it was the only D series auto trans that cameequipped with the SOHC vtec Civics (EK's). Besides the actual trans, im thinking the ECU or TCM would be needed (maybe both?). Also, i heard the CVTs didnt come with torque converters so the new trans would need that too

Don't do a drain an fill if it is already slipping its only gonna make the problem worse
I know your car is fast, you were hauling ass when I passed you

Things your going to need to swap that ex trans in.

                -ex/dx auto trans with converter
-auto ex/dx engine harness the hx trans harness portian is different
                -ex/dx auto cable shift linkage
                -ex/dx auto ecu
-and your going to need to drill those holes in the frame to fit the ex/dx trans mount since it sits lower than the cvt trans mount

Hope this helps out bro and I hear ya lol

Thanks for the good info JohnnyGSR, that was exactly what I was looking for. But it seems like a bigger pain in the ass than I expected, hopefully I don't have to do the swap.

Just test drove the car a little while ago, the tranny doesn't seem to slip at all, the lady misdescribed the issue...

What's happening is the gear selector is stiff and hard to shift (from park, to reverse, and so on). Kind of feels like binded linkage. The lights on the dash flicker on and off when trying shift, and the car continued to roll (like it was in neutral) even though the dash said I was in park. Weird shit...also, the tranny caught reverse sometimes but not all the time, even though the display said I was in reverse. Maybe a combination of the neutral safety switch? Let me know what you think guys

I know most of you will recommend a drain and fill to see if it fixes the problem which is probably what ill start off with.

In case that doesnt work, whats needed to swap out the CVT transmission with another automatic tranny? I did search online and will continue to read up on it, just looking for some advice from CTV members who possibly dealt with this before. Any input would be really appreciated.

BTW, not intending to do a 5 speed swap because i want to buy it for my girl and she only drives automatic.
Your idea of swapping is right but you have to do it from an expert, only then it will works perfectly. I also experienced this, I have been regular customer of Cook's Transmissions and it provides expert services that will makes your car running smooth as ever.
