ek tach not working advice?

98 ex tach dose absolutely nothing i took the cluster out checked the connections. dont think its the dizzy cuz when i put the scanner on it it reads engine speed fine. and when the car is cold it dosnt really wanna start and idles kinda rough after its warmed up starts and idles fine. could it possibly be a bad icm in the dizzy? if it was this wouldnt i not get any tach signal from the scanner?

I think that only controls signal for the speedometer and the spedo works fine

check the blue wire on your dizzy plug thats your tach signal

^^^And if i get no tach signal i assume the icm in the dizzy is no good?
