  • No J series tech support?

    what's good ctv i'm going to be taking on the painstaking task of putting a j series motor into my eg hatchback.. First n foremost i don't want to hear a single comment on ohh you should go k or you should throw a gsr in blah blah blah.. i want to be different.. i was looking up a few things on google & found some good info on the process.. i'm just seeing if there is anyone on here that has taken on this swap before & could give me first hand information.. ALS!!! has anyone fabbed a hood yet or anyone come out with new mounts so that the engine doesn't need to pop out of the hood?? that's the last thing i want..is my motor showin off the the public. i'm more of conserved/humble person regarding that aspect... with all that being said i want feedback from my fellow ctv members on this swap.. for starters i need a good j swap & i need to find a good 6 speed tranny etc etc.. LMK CTV!!!

        I seen one hatch so far with that swap and the thing was a beast just with a stock jswap..so it will be different and well worth it..just heard its hard..but Fukk it why not take a new task lol

            ^well i'm not from hartford anymore.. i moved out to worcester massachusetts & no one out here got on of em.. so i'll be the only person in my "new area" at least.. but thanks i'll hit tibby up with info

                Bump for thinking outside the box and doing it big no one around us is gunna be touching our hatches. I want out shit ready for opening day in epping in april

                    The fact that one of your main concern is the hood shows you haven't done your homework on this
                    What engine management. You going with?
                    You have the right tools to remove the mount bracket and the fabercation skill for the shifter box but I think they make a plate for it
                    You need to start hunting for a 6 speed cl-s tranny that's gonna be hard
                    You know what you need to do for wiring?
                    So much more to pull off the swap but it's worth it and the best of luck to you

                      Maybe he hasn't done his homework on it but he has point cause he don't want everyone seein what's under his hood he knows its gunna take alotta work just like my f2k in a ef is gunna be alotta work

                        Lmao people don't understand you can't have the best of both worlds ....what would you rather have the engine to stick out or Drag your oil pan everywhere? I understand the sleeper thing going on but even if you hid the motor some how you think ppl won't hear that's its a v6? At the end of the day your putting something that was never made to be v6 so your going to have sacrifice some things like the hood

                          Actually i've done my research smart guy.. there is a way to make the engine not pop out, but you run into clearance issues with the ground..that's why i asked if there was a company with different mounts because i was reading on honda-tech and a guy had a j swap & it wasn't popping out of his hood... he stated he had a different mount kit... so shoot yourself with your accusation saying i didn't do my research..so...don't run your mouth unless u know what 'YOUR' talking about... there is a company called API that can re-wire my entire wiring harness so it's compatible with my car's harness & they de-bug certain ecu's so the j series motor doesn't go into limp mode... i'm going to send my harness to them becaue wiring is def not my thing.. and i got someone to do my engine bay work.. so before you bash my thread/come at me impolitely consider the fact that i HAVE done research on this.. forums/write ups on these things can only give you knowledge to a certain extent.. which is why i'm looking for people who actually have first hand experience doing this swap.. you my good sir do not.. so you my good sir can get off my thread...iight buddy have a good day

                            Good point, but which is also the reason why i asked if someone can custom fab a hood... because idc that the motor sits so high, i just don't want to cut the hood.. anything can be done.. exspecially a hood that can be fabbed to cover the motor..

                              @ juk3z.. not trying to come at you impolitely, but don't tell me i haven't been doing research because i've been thinking bout this for months now, & have been reading write ups on a bunch of other forums.. just want some first hand experience with someone who has taken on this swap before..
