b16a2 in 96 ek with d16y8 0bd2b harness

  • b16a2 in 96 ek with d16y8 0bd2b harness

    so i have a b16a2 swap in my 1996 dx i am using a 1999 harness obd2 harnb
    and have the step down harness for a p30 obd1 b16 ecu but the tps plug is not on the d16y8 obd2b harness can i get help or suggestion

      oooh .. i knoe for my Ek i used a 96-98 obd2a engine harness , && everything works finee . & wha'd you mean the plug for the tps aint on it , it'd been cut . .?

              96/98=obd2a(harness has 3plugs to ecu) 99/00=obd2b(harness has 2plugs to ecu, 3rd plug comes from cabin harness). u cant use that harness, u will need a 96/98 ex harness n then just run the stepdown jumper harness of the obd2a to obd1 to run that p30 u got n u shuld b strait

                  ^^^ && If you'r Going to used a 96-98 Engine harness , you'r Gonna have to do some modd & extendinq . .

                        ^^^ Deff . . i wouldn't mess with no other engine besidees the obd2a for a EK . .

                        There's couple things you gotta modd

                        Gotta convert the iavc plug from a 3 wire to a 2 wire & depin a wire from the ecu harness & Then the same with the crank sensor plug 3 wire to 2 wire . . & extended the Vtec wires & mostly tha'd it!

                            The best option is to use the 96-98 ex harness and run a step down harness.but you can also use the 99-00 harness on a 96-98 civic. Yes you can,I have done it and my car was running with the 99-00 harness for years. If you use the 99-00 harness ,you will bump into a few issues which I will explain now.your cel will remain on and your car will not pass emission,fan won't turn on so u will have to run the positive wire to a accessory wire,you will need to flip 2 wires on the green plug next to the ecu so that your speedometer will work,you will have to run a wire from your dizzy to the tach wire so that the tach will work.that's about it. You can get everything to work and your car will be drivable but it's not the best option. Good luck
