  • oil in exhaust

my lude started to smoke recently, i took off my header and found what seemed to be some oil leaking out of cylinder 1's exhaust port. I was thinking bad rings, then someone told me valve seals, then another person told me the head gasket, etc etc etc.. i didnt notice any difference what so ever in performance of the car, just started smoking blue when stopped and would puff out when first getting on the gas and then accelerating it went away.

anyone have a clue what would cause a car to smoke but not have any performance change?

Deff seals.. just think about it you go and idle the car giving oil enough time to run threw the seal which ends up ontop of the piston so when you pull off the car burns the oil off the piston. hope this helps and gives you a lil insite g/l bro..

yea i took the valves out and there was 1 bad seal, the little spring that holds the seal snug on the valve stem was all smashed up and that specific valve was covered in oil. definitely the problem, replacing them tomorrow thanks guys!

btw any advice on putting new seals in or is it just basically like this?:

take out old seal, put new ones on (exhaust ones are black, intake ones are white) and pat down them down
put spring, retainer and keepers back in. install cam shafts/gears, do a valve adjustment, put head back on car etc etc etc.?
