98 ex help

i have a stock 98 civic ex 5 speed. there is a little square under the speedomoter that says "maintenance required". When i got the car it was green but it changed to red. what does this mean? is there anything that i need to do or should i just not worry about it?

***i figured it out...there is a little slot that you have to stick ur key into and it resets it back to green

I always thought that just mean do a oil change, then you reset it everytime you do it? Im not sure tho so don't quote me on that. Im wondering now too.

well i just did an oil change this weekend and its still red. is there a way to reset it?
