  • i need advice...

    first off.. this site is madddd help
    you guys have been really helpful
    i am pretty new to the whole honda scene but i think im starting to get it

    i have a few questions and i know that there are separate areas for the questions but i wanted to post them all in one area. its easier :)

    ok so..

    1. what are you guys running for suspension? i got stock struts and cheapo ebay springs.. i wanna upgrade to complete coilovers, but i want to kno what you all recommend...

    2. rims and tires are soooo confusing.... wheres a good place to buy rims/tires..? recommendations?

    3. i got a d16z6 in my hatch.. i swapped it myself.. but i got my megan racing exhaust and i smell gas... i guess im running lean? rich? what should i do? i have all stock plugs, wires, etc...

    4. short shifters... recommendations?

    5. finally i think this is it... clutchessssss :D seen a bunch.. i hear xtd is good...

    and advice would be really helpful :cool:cool:

    A lot of people reccomend D2's. I like Tein but it really doens't go low enough as a lot of people like it.

    Rims. Buy em used honestly is prolly your best bet. Because tires brand new are really expensive and the price of rims too. So you'd be at almost $1000 deep with brand new rims and tires where you could buy the same setup up used in mint consition for half the price.

    Rich. Any Check engine lights? Possibly map sensor.

    I have SKunk2 and love it. But i had a TWM one in my old hatch and it was really short. Honestly I like stock too tho. I personally think i can shift just as qyuck with a short shifter as a stock one.

    Whatever you do. Do NOT use those ebay bullshit brands. They don't last long till they start slipping. Spend the money and do it right the first time. I'd reccomend ACT or Excedy.

      suspension... ok d2s look good... $862.00 new on passwordjdm.. i kno they are expensive but is that about what they run?

      i have seen a bunch of good rims on here for sale... i guess i will just wait then.. i actually have vw gti's that i was thinking about spaying and putting on haha< must be a sin for the jdm gods

      i have had a CEL on since the swap... code 13 barometric pressure sensor... no idea what that is...?

      short shifter.... ..... idk what i wanna do, i was thinking about buying a megan one for like 12 bucks and just trying it...

      act and excedy... expensive... stage 1,2,3? recommendations...?

        go for what you like. it's your car you'll be drivng it. So go with whatever you like.

        Try replacing the map sensor and re setting the battery. If that doesn't fix it you'll need a new ecu. Because the sensor is insde the ecu of obd1 and obd2 ecu's.

        I wouldnt recommend those cheap ones. I've snapped one in half banging a gear lmao.

        Yea they are kinda pricey. But the real question is do you wanna spend a little bit get a ebay racing one. Then have to replace it in 3 months because it doesn't last. or do you want to spend the money in advance and get something good that will last. As for stage1, stg2, stg3 , 6puck and so on n so on. That really all depense on your power goals.

          i no w/ my 91 integra when i swapped ecu's i threw that code ... it turned out 4 me that one was in the ecu one was in the car they switched it up at sumpoint so make sure u have the rite ecu 4 the car nd u should b good w/ that one

          and about the short shifters u could make a functional one better than buying one jus add some metal under the ball to extend it down farther

            For suspension I would recomend the tein basics or buddy club if you want to go coilovers.You can also run good spring/shock combo's like the H&R or neuspeed springs with the tokico D-Specs.Ebay springs suck.

              Agree with all that was previouesly stated. I have seen the d2's go for low price and have herd good things about them. They also go super low (if that's your thing).

              Buy some used wheels, the lighter the better. Light wheels will improve acceleration, breaking, and handling all at the same time. I tried to find sunthin that looked good and weighed next to nothing, when I found them I got rid of my 16" anchors and it breathed a lot of life into my car.               Do you smell gas inside the car? If so you may have a bit of a leak in the fuel system. Check your lines if so! That code 13 is coming from your ecu I beleive (it is internal on obd1), so find someone with a p28 and try plugging it in to see if the code clears (which it should).

              For a clutch go with a stage 1 or 2 unless you want to boost. I would probably stick with a stage 1 unless you are planning to build it up and a stage 2 if you are going to do a mild build.

                    i wanna try someone elses ecu fo sho
                    and i kno its not a fuel leak.. its just like not burning all the fuel

                    suspension wise. im gonna shop around. tiens,d2s and buddys i guess...

                    short shifter... forget it. im not gonna bother.

                    rims... i kinda like rota slips.. :)
