  • b18c5 supercharged help

ok guys i need some input. maybe you have or havent had this setup or possibly know someone who has done it??? whatever the case is i need help!

    my setup,

    b18c5
    b16 lsd trans
    ctr cams aem cam gears
    255 fuel pump
    550 injectors
    supertech valvesprings and retainers
    oem head gasket
    2.5 header/exhaust
    68mm tb
    jrsc with lht cooler
    b20 crank pulley
    3.4 charger pulley

ok i have seen this setup done before, but i went to get it tuned, and was unable to do so due to the threat of detonation. the setup is at 12 psi on 93 octane. only got into the tuning until 3500 rpm and decided to take it down because we could not pull enough timing. at 3500 rpm i made 94 hp at full boost and 140 lbs of torque.

so im looking for help. i do not want to open my motor up, nor do i want to step down the boost. has anyone does this before and can explain how they did it? what they did? how can i avoid detonation and disaster? i was told stepping it down a little bit, bigger cams, colder plugs (8) but i have 7 in there now, thicker head gasket everything else was good. fuel was good, intake air temperatures never got over 115 degrees.

I ran stock plugs too. What made the tuner think it was detonating?

And what managment are you on?

i didnt think the compression was too high, did it only last a year or thats how long you ran it for? i was using hondata. im not exactly sure but he said he didnt feel comfortable pushing it further. i have seen bone stock type r's boosting 12 psi... im just very confused

Try meth injection, look it up. It works in all high comp and turbo/supercharger applications

how do you know the peak boost if you havent redlined it? you can just go off other setups they are all different. the slightest thing can make boost go up or down. maybe thats why ur tuner is scured

bump for us having a similar set up, using a bigger cam will def help out with the dynamic compression. but you dont even have high compression lol. im gonna be running my shit on 11.5:1 comp. water/ meth will drop the iat a lil, but your car is already intercooled. i say get a better tuner.

just because your knock sensor is registering a super high knock count it doesnt mean your actually getting all that knock. your supercharger is basically a big noisemaker strapped to your engine and could be causing "phantom knock". unless you can actually hear your engine pinging chances are you are not getting any of the detonation that you think you are. same thing happened to me when i first installed my supercharger. as soon as i would get into boost my knock count would go crazy but it was phantom knock from the noise of the supercharger whining. who was doing your tuning? a more experienced tuner should be able to tell the difference.....

any tuner that is using a factory Honda knock sensor, shoiuldnt be tuning hondas.

What managment? Because unless you are running a AFC, you can take soooo much timing out that it wont even run.

It sounds like you need a new tuner.

My setup never blew up. I parted it out. It had 220psi in all 4 cylinders the day i parted it.I daily drove it, and i beat the shit out of it.
