  • anyone have any tips on buying engine block or cyl head????

I want to buy a block and a head...not a complete motor I am gonna give a go on building it my myself I know you can visually inspect for gouges or some cracks in block and head.bit I don't want to buy a block with small unseen crack and be screwed...also o know that I can use a straight edge level to check for warped heads...I just am wondering what to look for what I should ask the seller and any tips.tricks yall know on how to not get ripped off...please if you do want to leave me an answer don't give me some dumb stuff about vtec fluid or other bull crap don't waste your time if you don't wanna help..thanks ctvtec

the head will be easy, cause they usually never crack. Just make sure there are no impact marks on the combustion chamebers. The head can be resurfaced to become true again.

The blocks are tricky. If you dont know the history, or seen it run, then its a crap shoot. The only blocks to take that chance on would be a R. if its just a ls/gsr, than pass and find a complete bottom end, or atleast another from a trusted seller.
