  • Another civic won't start

Hey guys, having an intermittent problem that drives me crazy. I have a 93 civic dx coupe (w/2000 dx single non vtec engine using the 93 manifolds ecu sensors etc.)
Having an intermittent problem with the fuel pump not priming before cranking.

I am good with electricals, and have narrowed it down to the ecu not sending the 12v- ground signal grn/yel to the main relay needed to power fuel pump relay coil.

Also I am getting 12v+ to the yel/blk ecu input right @ the ecu from the main relay, when key is on.
    Anything else i should check??
Does this mean the ecu is bad?
Sometimes it works fine. Sometimes it won't work at all. Sometimes it will just work out of the blue without touching wires or anything, after a period of about a minute or so goes by with switch on.
    Please!!! help lol.

well, i'll try checking the grounds once again. and using a jumper where? I did try jumping ground to that grn/yel right @ the ecu plug and everything works.

thanks for your input. i did have a ground issue in the past because the 2000 block is a little dif. from the 93 and the water neck where the ground connects was dif. so i swapped the 93 water neck coolant temp sensor to the 2000. I have also sanded and cleaned the two main engine grounds, are there any others i'm missing? Is there something here that makes u think its not the ecu?

I had the same problem with my Crx and it ended up being the ecu. It progressively got worse until it stopped working altogether. Swapped the ecu and havent had a problem since.

The cheapest way to fix it is to just wire in a manual switch for your fuel pump and take the ecu out of the equation. Ive seen it done a couple of times, just make sure put the switch somewhere out of reach from your passengers cause if you have friends like me theyll turn your fuel pump off while youre driving lol

yea already tried that, and because of that ive replaced 3 distributors(coils keep buring out) what ever isn't sending that ground signal to main relay, also isn't sending correct voltage to distributor. Ive figured this out because if i can get it to start on the oem wiring the distributor doesn't burn out. If i wire the fuel pump externaly then next thing i know the coil is burning out after a few starts. realllly annoying lol.
