So I bought myself a low mileage(37k), 03 Mazda protege (mazdaspeed).the car comes factory turbo and It has a few nice upgrades(hard pipes,cai,3in exhaust,boost controller,oil catch can,turbo timer,fuel rail,etc)the guy I bought the car from said that the car needs a tune.well I found out that these mazdaspeeds all suffer from what is called HESITATION.happens when reaching 3-4k rpm.I was told about a ecu reflash which advances the timing and will lean it out a bit due to the car running rich while boosting.I have also heard about the joeP fuel pressure reducer but this only works for some people and not all($25 part)great thing is that I will save gas with this $25 part
.I know this isn't a Mazda forum but maybe someone on here can give me some good insight as what I should buy for a fix,tuner,parts(afc,engine management?,etc).I really don't plan on building the motor so would probably only run 10-11psi at the most(7psi is factory).
