  • Best Engine to choose ?

Going to be picking up a shell soon, and looking for a motor THAT WILL DROP RIGHT IN.

Any views on certain motors that go good with a turbo set up ?

I like the b18, but curious to know which engine would be great for me to drop into my shell

Going to pick up a 4 door civic somewhere betwen 95-98
    or a 2 door coupe from 95-98

    help ?

By no means a "Honda Guy" but in my opinion LS for its simplicity
and price. Makes good power with little bolt ons and you can keep some
dough in your pockets. If not that then a 1.6 SOHC Vtec Turbo would be
    my personal choice.

i think u mean 96 - 98 civic ? anyways if the shell had vtec at some point is easy to drop b18c-gsr, b16-si,delslow motors,...if is a non vtec wiring harness b18b/a-ls would be much better to drop in ''less work''. not sure how much exprience u got wit hondas but the most simple way to go by it is get a stock motor that goes with the car d16,15 small turbo with tune fun daily.

if u really want a swap wit good reliable power go with b18b 60trim turbo tuned u make 220 - 280 whp safely 9.2 comp ratio

the way they make swaps so easy no a days any motor can just drop in the car.
        you can do
        d16y8
        d16y7
you can do d16z6 if you add on a crank sensor to the water pump or do the dizz mod(little more wireing.)

        any B series motor really
the obd2 B series can just drop right in with the right mount kit.

H series if you buy the mount kit and swap axles (little more work with shifter linkages)

K series same as H right mount kit little welding bit more money.

or J series v6. even more money time and with the right mount kit.

it is more of waht power goals and waht you want to do with the car.

really the B series stock droped in make good power and great for daily driveing and have room to do stuff to to make more power.

no, I meant 95-98...I like the style of the 95, so any shell from a 95-98 would be nice to own

Im liking the b series engines. I think I would get either a b16 or b18 and just pop on a small turbo..build the motor for like 250-300 ho, and leave it at that.

Do a single vtec boost it and with a dave tune you'll be all set with good power!!

If your going to boost it. Just go with a stock LS swap. Those motors hold 10-12 psi all day with a good tune and it will make great power and be reliable. I have a B16A in my car. Drops right in and i boosted it for a little while. Made great power just had to sell my kit to pay bills. B series is the way to go to "drop in" and will make decent FUN power.

And if you really want to be quick off the line get a GSR or B16 Trans. If you want to daily it keep the LS trans. High rpms+boost daily driving will stress the crap out of your motor. If you need and LS i have a few of them laying around ill help you out putting one together right. If you want it reliable you should upgrade head studs and rod bolts. And might as well put new ACL or king bearings in there. And for the tune. TALK TO DAVE. Hes the man for the price.

b16 motor and trans, 57 trim, tubular mani, and tial gate. integra mounts and shift linkage and a socketed p28.

It'll make more power and be the cheapest/easiast way to 300+ WHP.And you dont need to touch any B engine to make over 300, just have Dave tune it.
