  • Affordable suspension setup

Im in the market for a new adjustable coilover/strut combo that rides good and is affordable. Not looking for skunk2, or omnipower coilovers because ive been in the skunk2 full coilover setup and it was just too bouncy. I want to see what people are mixing and matching for a good price( under 600).. for example kyb agx with ground controls..alright post away***THIS IS NOT A FS/WTB THREAD(but if you know of a killer deal let me know =]

If your looking for a awsome set up for under 600. Then you are correct with the AGX/GC combo. This is a highly reccomemded budget set up for many vehicles. I personally dont like tokico struts, i think they blow out to quickly, IMHO. I highly reccomend the AGX/GC combo.

I also belive the AGX's are rebuildable too.

i got OMNI POWER coilover setup with rear lower control arms for $450, it rode nice on my car i loved it, its better than the skunk2 because you can lower it without messing with the spring rate.

my best ever suspension i put together in my old red ek coupe... KYB GR2, stiff, plus Sport line springs... i felt every smooth curve in the road, but no bounce. cost me about 200 for the struts itself and about 150 for the springs.. simple. very affordable. and very very good ride.

Best 2 besides full coilover id say is Koni yellows and KYB AGX
the konis are nice beacause not only can u adjust shock rebound stiffness but u can move the spring seat to raise or lower ur car almost like coilovers

I got the KYB Gr2 gas shocks, and they work perfectly fine. Its matched up with H&R lowering springs, and it drives over bumps like its floating in water. OEM struts blow quick, unless you are using Tien s.tech lowering springs.

well id consider a full coilover system, but like i said im not lookin to spend too much..under 600 is what i am aiming at.. so does anyone know what combo if any, could have the height changed without messing with spring rate? ay phil, where did you find that setup so cheap?

If you know how to drive right like me and mr.lay, from hitting pot holes and cracks on the roads. Than your GR2's will last you forever!

                              under 600.....ummm close

I tried to go the cheaper way - put ebay coilovers on stock struts - bad idea cost me a lot more in the long run, I'll leave it at that

But- I got Ksport Kontrol Fully Adjustable Coilovers for $650 shipped from Ultrarev.com and I gotta say I'm happy, rides pretty damn nice - 36 way adjustable, zinc coated rust resistant (we're in CT) and very good quality.

I know its dough, but I saved for a while and treated myself & my car :)

It's nice to know your springs are rated correctly for your shock right outta the box, and the car feels like Mario Kart now -
