  • Painting My Slips

i got a set of black slips that i wanted to touch up...has some rock chips on them that i want to get rid of. I also wanted to paint the outer lip with a nice red coat, to set off the tails and give it a different look. I know i have to sand them down, but what grit should i use? Also, I'm not really sure of what type of paint i should use either, being that this is the first time I'm spraying some wheels. Just looking for some tips and info, thanks for any help :D

theirs also rim paint...but its too glossy .....trust the engine paint works...i used the paint on a set of wheelz an the sh!t came out mint...just put down a enough coats so the paint dont chip as easily...just wanna create a nice layer of paint to hold up for a while....mine worked out for almost a year until I sold the rims...

i would use 320 or 400 to sand it down

use a red scothbrite pad or 320 grit to sand em down,,clean em real good after u sand em with a good automotive prep cleaner,,they sell this stuff at advanced,,u might want to throw a quick coat of primer on em,,i just use cheap primer,,makes the paint stick better,,as far as paint,,some people say to use the wheel paint or high temp engine paint,,i used all diffrent kinds,,it really dont matter,,the wheels dont get that hot,,the key is applying a good heavy coat of clear on the wheels after you spray the color,,this will make them smooth, easy to clean,,and they will look alot better and last a long time..i painted a ton of wheels,,all held up fine and looked good,,,DONT USE DUPLICOLOR WHEEL CLEAR,,its sucks and when u put it on heavy it turns yellow,,use duplicor laquer clear and you'll be set
