If you don't have any experience with a dslr I don't recommend spending the money on one rite away. I would try out a nikon psudo dslr (coolpix) or similar (canon powershot, panisonic luminex, kodak easyshare) and get some experience with it. You can pick them up for like $200 and you will learn alot with em. Or if you really want a dslr and want to keep some money get a d40 kit or something.
