  • Vtec question and Swap

    Hello guys I do have two question for my future plans I do have 2003 civic si. That car's vtec window is 2200 rpm. if i want to tune my software can I take it to the higher rpms? second question is USDM si have K20A3, what if I want to swap with K20A2 which is european Type-R engine do i need just a engine or do I need a electric system and transmission too ??

    Put a k20a2 or a z1 with the 6 speed tranny n sell the ep3 swap shits like have a ls... Or if you have the funds do a k24/k20 set up

      not right now but after putting more mile on engine I might swap with a2 or z1 cuz K20A3 is not gonna be enough for even regular street driving

        K20 a2 all the way but change out the cams for Z1 cams those cams are way more aggresive and will yield more power.. and make sure Kpro is one of ur first purchases...try an get a a RBC manifold as well that will def get u some gains

          well thats sound is really nice but it means too much money. the other plan is supercharger on k20a3 I do have 130.xxx mile on engine I don't know is it gonna be healthy and safe. I need kpro anyway

            Nah bro you can get Z1 cams brand new for like $200 cheaper if u find some used ones on k20a .org....RBC manifold is like 300 bux and def worth its something u will feel on the butt dyno..put it this way im not einstiend no gonna tell u how much hp it will make cuz every motor is diffrent but RBC runners are designed for high RPM horsepower so u will have a nasty top end especially if u match it wit a nice 3 inch exhaust...the cams will get u hp all over the power band low and mainly high ...the crossover is slightly less agressive than the Z3 cam tho but almost same shit only cuz z3 cams are bigger

              Supercharger would be alot worse fore your motor in my eyes just because its not something you can turn off you feel me...turbo cars you dont have to go into boost every gear...but supercharger your always in boost which mean constant strain on the motor at all times...plus its a newer motor that 130,000 miles aint shyt bro as long as it was taken care off and it aint smokin like a diesel truck ur good to mod

                  U need to do a lot of research. U can't up the vtec on a a3 because its eco vtec. The a3 doesn't come with vtec on both lobes, that's why u don't hear the crossover up top. Second u cant just switch in vtec cams its a lot more work than that for an a3. Go on k20a.org. and look up vtec killer cams. That's the mod ur going to have to do if u want true vtec cams on ur a3. Ur best bet is a supercharger or turbo . It's totally up to u on ur choice. Supercharger is easier to install but u will make way less hp on a k20a3. Turbo a little more maintenance but u can push the a3 close to 300 whp and be reliable.

                              this guy speaks the gospel right here...

                              If you've got an a3, boost is the only way to get decent numbers. doing an a2 swap is pretty costly and not as effective in terms of hp per dollar. 6psi shouldn't be bad, even with 130.
