  • reputable place for kswap?

hey guys, I'm 17 and got my first car an '03 civic EX EM2 about 6 months ago and was wondering if anyone knows of a reputable shop that would do the swap for me? I'm running a d17a2 right now with just bolt ons so it's pretty much dead slow and not really looking into turboing it or running nitrous.

im sure most people are gonna recommend me to just do it myself or something, but i really don't have too much experience with this crap and don't think i'm ready to just dive right into an engine swap quite yet. so far i've only done some basic things to it like rims, intake, exhaust, lip kit, grill, and 04-05 taillights on it(had some dumb altezza's on it when i picked it up), and OEM spoiler.

i'm down in torrington and would prefer not to go too far outta the way but i guess it's not too big of a deal for something like this. also how far about would it set me back? right now it's an auto and would like to also convert it to stick shift in the process, but it's not too high on my priorities

edit: also how does it work with putting a k20 into an EM2? any modifications need to be done to the chassis or does it pretty much just fit right in?

if you have the money to do the job i will take on the job for you i am between bristol and torrington since my girls friends mom lives there. i am can get together wit you and put together a list of waht parts will be needed and a time table of it all and how much labor will cost. it wont be cheap and it wont be a weekend deal unless you have every part and a tuner lined up.

I'm sorry bro but u got a lot to learn, it's not as simple as it looks, unless you have $$$ to spend n have everyone do everything for you, I mean if u want a project pick up a younger civic preferably 00 and down n work on that because in the long run a swap on an 03 civic not worth bro u jumpin to far, do some reseach n learn more bout parts because there's alot of shit u shud kno before u do a heart transplant on a reliable car don't ruin it becuz problms r gonna occur if somethings not done right n then u gon waste more than expected trust find abucket n built it as u learn g/l

No offense dude but if your not doing your own work and don't have a k series motor already your gunna end up spending more just to have a kswap then you probably paid for the whole car... if your lookin to spend money and get some power I would boost it, it would be the cheapest way to get some power..

but also if its yyour first car I wouldn't jump into trying to make it fast..

take your time, save some money, do some research, and figure out what's really right for you..

it wont be cheap to boost the d17a he have since it use;s a odd head flang and it not the easy to tune and will mostlkly pop under any boost. if he is talkin the way it sounds he has some money to spend to K swap it. it wont be cheap at all.

and ya there are people out there that know nothing about buiding a car but enjoy them i have a few people i do work for that know how to open the hood and cheak oil and that is all on a car and maybe a little more and one had a nasty delsol and one has a fully built gsr boosted makein good HP daily driven some people have the money to spend and enjoy the sport with out gettin down and dirty

you should learn to drive 1st for like a year and then think about building a car to make it faster,no offense i rather see someone young like your self live more then just jumping in the ring with all the best because you think you know how to drive.

pretty much my situation. I have about 4000 on me right now and I'm not even positive if I'm going to do it, just looking at my options. if I do get it done though it would probably be in the next couple of months when I get some more money. thanks for the input though guys, appreciate it

I'd like to eventually learn how to do a swap myself, but not too confident in my abilities atm
