  • H23vtec in 97 Prelude

Whats up guys, i just ordered a jdm h23vtec out of the accord sir. Im keeping my car obd2 for emissions purposes. Does anyone know what parts i have to change/swap to make this work. I think i remember hearing something about modifying the crank??? Also maybe something about the distributor???

Im starting the swap tomorrow so if any of you guys can help out I'd appreciate it

if youre doing this swap tomorrow, perhaps you should have looked more into whats involved, dont you think?

let me shed some generic insight on this. is the motor obd2 or not (i dont know what an accord sir type r dohc vtec type s VCM is)? if its obd1, it wont have a crank sensor, while your car obd2 will. yes the distributor is obviously different between the 2.

im assuming it goes something like this "swap your crank trigger wheel (wherever that may be on a h22) onto the h23 crank and mount the sensor according. then use a obd2 distributor on the h23 motor (im sure it goes in). retain all your stock h22 sensors, etc etc and im assuming it plugs like an h22. basically retain all your h22 parts and i dont see a problem.

keep in mind i dont know shit about honda specifics, im just getting into them at my job. but i bet im not that far off from what needs to be done.

Thanks for the reply man. My mechanic said it shouldnt be to much of a problem, im just trying to do a little extra research for him in case we run into any trouble. The motor is already OBD2 going into an OBD2 car. I'll definitely show him what you wrote, i believe your correct on the crank sensor, and i'll definitely keep all my h22 sensors to swap over.
Any other advice would be awsome, starting the project sometime tonight so anybody with advice/experience on this lemme know.

      Thanks again guys

I'll build whatever you want. PM me details on what your looking to do.

I've been looking for a Good Place Locally to start a Shop, but I'm being picky. Hopefully, someday it will happen.
