  • Possibly H23-H22 swapping my lude... a few questions

Possibly considering an h22 swap on my prelude in a few months, but since I consider myself mechanically challenged (this is my first swap but it would be done with multiple friends who have all done multiple swaps) I have a few questions.

The first has to do with the vtec wire. I know a wire needs to be run from the wiring harness to the ECU. my question is how difficult is this? Would it be something that would really give me fits? or could a few people do it pretty easily?

The second has to do with the tranny. My h23 tranny is what has been giving me problems and ultimately made me stop driving the car. i was just going to swap the tranny with an h22 tranny but I've heard a lot of people actually prefer the H23. With the full h23 setup my lude pulled to 130 really quickly and topped out at 135, so it basically just pulled hard to its top speed. I liked it a lot. i've heard the 2nd and 3rd gears are shorter in the h22. Does anyone have any reccommendations as to which tranny I should replace it with?

My final question has to do with the gauges. I have a 95 se, so I have the digital gauges that are pretty sweet. I'd like to keep these gauges but I'd prefer to have an accurate redline in my cluster. Since its digital is it tied in to the ecu? or would i have to change the gauges as well?

Sorry for any dumb questions, this is my first time really even planning to do anything major under the hood of a car. thanks

whats in your prelude ? if its a h23a3 id just slap a vtec head and wire the car up for vtec and then all you need is a ecu ... i sold my prelude for a 94 coupe with a jdm h22 and im not happy with it because it seems to me that my h23 pulled way way harder

My full h22 prelude did the full 160 mph speedo and redlined 5th no problem. Zoomx3 can vouch for this. Stock internals with full boltons.

Just swap out the H23 for a full OBD1 H22 swap. Cheapest and best option if your on a budget.

If no budget and want to make moves, PM me for options.
