  • H23a vtec?

Ok so I was thinking about just buying another swap and keeping the si. I went on jdmenginedepot.com and saw the h23a vtec motor (blue top). Apparently only came on the accord wagon in Europe or something like that. Not the Frankenstein one. These are the specs:

    H23A Prelude/Accord SiR
    Year: 97-01
    Valve Train: DOHC, VTEC, 16-VALVE
    Displacement: 2258 cc
    Horse Power: 220 HP @ 6800 RPM
    Torque: 163 LBS-FT @ 5300 RPM
    Compression: 10.6:1
    Red Line: 8000 RPM
    Transmission:
    Weight: 500 lbs

I was wondering if anyone has done this swap, how does it run and if anyone can give me a little more info on it and how it is as opposed to the h22a. Any info would be much appreciated. Thanks btw this is going in a 95 hatch going h2b

Well it better if you do a h2b swap , it'd save less work , & easy to do . Never done it ; but I have done my research about it'd. All you gonna need is a h or f series motor , b series tranny , & the kit . . It'd like doinq a b series swap . .
But if you do a full h23 swap , you gonna have to do some mod to the tranny side. . But g/l

Yea actually that's what I'm doing I already have the qsd h2b kit, b series Hasport mounts for eg and a ls tranny (for now) until I invest in extra $ for gsr or type r but I really just need to know some more info about the motor itself like which is better h22a or that h23a vtec

id say h23 just because of an extra 1 liter, slightly more torque. im assuming its just like any h2b swap thats done.

Thanks for all the input guys. I had an h22 it never gave me problems ran strong just wanna make sure the h23a is the same. I read a couple bad reviews saying they only made them for a few yrs for a reason but who knows I'm gonna try it out n see how it goes. They basically said it was an h23 block with an h22 head and more torque!! Sounds fun!

I heard it doesn't have the addition oil squirters that the h22 has therefor it can't rev as high. Does anyone know if this is true?

i say just go h2b with an h22 since their are more aftermarket parts to support it... although my boy does have an h23 with b series trans in his EK
