  • How To: use an external coil engine harness with an internal coil distributor

Like the title says...and its very quick and easy

(this tutorial ill mostly be for people with jdm h22 and h23vtec swaps, using a h23 wiring harness but could also apply to others...)

i was trying to swap in my JDM h22 in my prelude when i noticed it had an internal coil distributor instead of an external coil like my usdm h23a1 did. i was going to swap the internal for the external but the external coiled distributor had a broken sensor in it, so it was useless... so i did this!

hook up your distributor like normal and plug it all in...

now get the plug thats supposed to plug into your external coil, it looks like this:

we are going to be using these 2 wires, dont worry about the blue one.

this is what it looks like when looking at the prongs:

now, notice the two little slots highlighted in green?:

slide in a 20amp fuse like so. this will connect the two wire and do it safely at the same time.

TAPE IT UP nicely and tight with electrical tape.

now you can use your jdm internal coil distributor with your external coil harness!
Working...
