Why is it that a h23 block and h22 head make a difference. Wouldnt you be better off with just buying a h22 type-s

h23 block has slightly larger displacement and different stroke ratio, so thus more torque then a h22, BUT the h23 block is not as strong as a h22's so you cant rev it as high but you will still make at least 200hp like the h22 but with more torque. So in theory, the h23 with the h22 head will be slightly faster then a regular h22, but the h22 type s is a whole different story.

so to answer your question.....IF your staying stock or lightly modified then do the h22 type-s seeing as its just a slightly modified h22 from the factory to be a little quicker. If your going to build and you want that slightly higher displacement and dont want to bore out a h22 then the h23 vtec is the way to go IMO.
