  • h22 in 97 accord

wats up ctvtec. i want to put an h22 in my accord but doing alittle research i came to hear that a type sh doesnt fit. just wondering if anyone can help me out or let me know why or how?

good question. the SH has the electronic differential on the back of the engine, which would not operate due to missing electrical connections. also, the rear mount maybe relocated to accommodate the diff

i have an sh and to convert all that stuff it would probably a real pain for you. i suggest just getting an h22 from a base model prelude. this dude i met at bpt autozone a long time ago had an h22 in his accord and that thing was pretty quick. SH model has a different tranny with atts, and it would be a real pain to hook that up in your car (not sure what tranny you going to have with it). preludepower.com has some great threads about this question. ill try to find it for you.

why exactly do you want to put a h22 in an accord the stock f22 can accelerate a decent speed it would but more cost effective to bolt in a turbo since the f22's compression ratio is low enough... if you run an h22 you will not have enough room to turbo and will be stuck running a NA engine unless you seriously modify the engine compartment... I run a 95 honda accord f22 with t3/t4 turbo and a mishimoto performance radiator to cool the whole thing

In my opinion, if you're gonna do a swap on the Accord, go with the F20B (200hp/144ftlbs), you'll make more power. A guy on my other site is putting down about 175 WHP with I/H/E and a mildly ported IM. Only thing with the F20B is it falls a little short on torque. But the way I see it, we drive Accords, we're used to having no torque. :D

A Mild N/A H22, H23-VTEC build will be as fast or most likely faster than a boosted F22, F23.
