  • jdm f22b in 97 accord problem please help

i just picked up a jdm f22b dohc for my 97 accord lx and i was wondering if i had to change anything with the wiring harness or ecu i dont believe i do but one "mechanic" (and i quote cuz he seems stupid.) says that it wont work wit the sohc harness and ecu shouldnt i only have to splice two wires and run them into the distributer.. i kno with out changing the oil pump the usdm sensor wont be active and the check engine light will be on but im not worried about that.. so what is the easiest way to get this motor and wiring harness to work together last i checked they went together

i sent you some info that should help you, if you have any questions let me know. and if you have everything wired right you won't have check engine lights.

you'll need a new ecu for sure. chances are that you got an obd1 motor and your car is obd2. so you'll need the ecu for sure. you might as well switch your whole setup to obd1. much simpler.

i'm running my f22b on a pt6 (92-93 accord EX ecu) at the moment. it runs fine but redline is cut short since its made for an f22a6 motor. you can pick one of those up at any junkyard that has a few honda's.

your best bet is keeping it obd2 since you have an obd 2 wire harness and when emissions comes around you can still get it tested, emissions won't let you pass if they can't read your obd2 ecu since your car is originally an obd2 car, new law i found about recently, you can use the ecu that came with the f22 dohc if it is obd1 just get a conversion harness. like i said just get it wired properly or just switch oil pumps on f22 sohc with the crank sensor and use your stock distributor and wont have to wire up a thing

i went wit the dohc oil pump n distributor n jus wired the sensor to it but its runnin at 150 in cylinder 1 and 4 for compression n 250 in cylinders 2 and 3 i think the seals got stuck from sittin in japan n engine depot the owner said to put atf in the motor to restore the compression will tht work??
