  • Does DMV sending new title?

Happy Veterans Day to the vets on here.

Stupid question guys, I bought an out of state car with title and had it reg'd and tagged no issues. But they haven't sent me a new title in my name for the vehicle in CT. I did this with my bike last year and DMV sent me a new CT title within a few weeks of me registering the bike. I even asked the teller about the title and she said you don't get to keep the Out of state one, but she never really said if or when they send a new one. Just wondering if they ARE supposed to send me new Ct title or if I'm supposed to file something to get one.

    Thanks guys

You should receive a CT title. Only reason you wouldnt is if the car is 20 or 25 years old. Dont quote me on the age of the car, i am not sure

Thanks guys for quick responses. The car is a '95... I didn't know this made a difference? I don't plan on selling the car anytime soon but god forbid I was hassled or something by insurance company or police, I have nothing in my name that shows I'm the owner besides a bill of sale. With my bike they took my title and I figured what I was paying for at DMV the title was included, voila 2 weeks later I got one. I didn't think you had to ask for new title, I figured it was automatic once you register out of state car in your name.

The DMV changed all their ish over and I figured ok maybe the computers and stuff taking awhile but it's going on 2 mos now, should I just pay the $25 and apply for replacement certificate?

        Thanks again for help

not to invade the post, but whats the rule about registering a car without a title? how old does it have to be before you dont need it anymore to register it?

Present to your town/city clerk your title from the dealership or the New Hampshire title application from the lienholder. If it is a brand new vehicle, a Manufacturers Statement of Origin (MSO) is required. Please provide proof of residency if you have not already done so as established by your town/city.

i heard that connecticut has stopped giving titles to cars older then 1995 so all you need is a bill of sale.
