  • Ct totlaed car inspection

Can someone walk me through the process of regestering a car after it was
    Totaled?

Also what if I someone were to drive a car after it was totaled, what are the consequence if any if they were pulled over.

It doesn't matter if the car was 'totalled', what matters is what it says on the title.

If the title is stamped 'salvage', you can't register the car, and if it's not registered, you can't drive it on public roads.

If you are stopped driving an unregistered car, you get a $120 ticket and they tow your car and impound your car until you get it registered and pay the towing and storage fees, or until you show up with a tow truck to pick it up and pay the towing and storage fees.

In order to re-register a salvage titled car, you need to repair it perfectly, and document all the repairs, as you will be required to prove what repairs were done. In other words, take pictures of the whole process.

Then, once your car is fixed, you need to tow the vehicle, with all 4 wheels off the ground, to the inspection center Weathersfield, CT, and have it inspected.

If it passes, they will issue you a rebuilt title, and you can register the car.

You aren't going to sneak in when they aren't looking.

There is no way to get around getting it towed to the inspection center.

Here is the same info in PDF: http://www.ct.gov/dmv/LIB/dmv/20/29/b-256.pdf

Yeah I read the website. Car has to be towed by a actually towing company which sucks. Also do the parts bring replaced need to be paint matched?

                  Correct.

You just can't tow it in. It has to be trailered with all 4 wheels off the ground.

Actually, a dealer can tow, or maybe even drive the car to the inspection.

If you are friendly with a dealer, that is an option.

If the car is in your name and not the dealers name, you might run into trouble though.
