How can i tell the difference? If i had a rod knock would i have smoke coming out the exhaust? I drove the car for 2weeks with the knock til one day it almost stalled out while i was at idle at a light from, but the rpm climbed back to normal. Since then had it towed nvr drove it after. Can anyone shine some light on this please.

do a compression test. if your valves are bent you will have low compression

If i spun a bearing wouldnt that cause low compression in that cylinder as well?

I also went to do an oil change at the time after it happened to see why i had the knock and i had at least 3qts of oil in the motor.
