    damn man sorry for what happend to your car. i also live by oem honda filters.. your not going to get a better one. in the 15 plus years at the dealer, as well as all of the motors that ive built ive never had a failure from one.
    as far as sending the defective one back to them and getting a check.. make sure the are planning to pay for any related damages.. not just send you a check for the amount of the filter and a coupon for some oil!. i had a customer years back have a similar issue with another brand filter and they tried to pull that crap on him.

          lots of studies have noted that fram filters have a sh itty check valve in them, if any, and this allows dirty oil to drain back to the pan. take a look.
