Does anyone know how strict the dmv is on passing a vehicle through inspection as for engine wise, suspension, exhaust ect. ect? I'm trying to rebuild a salvage title vehicle that was a theft recovery but I have no clue what was stolen. Does it need to be 100% factory like when it rolled off the showrooms floor? I'm looking to put a swap in it and was wondering what the vehicle needed in order to pass, its just a shell. Post or pm. Thanks ctvtec!

as far as i know as long as everything was replaced that was stolen you will be fine although you will need reciepts for the parts...
it would only have to be at OEM specs IF the car was in an accident

well if a car has a salvage title the only way to get it registered IN CT again would be to get the title rebuilt.
so if it was in an accident the car would have to be at OEM specs all the way around
if it was a stolen recovery you need reciepts for all the parts that were replaced
you never heard of the situation because you live in RI and dont need titles for the vehicle even if its salvage you can register it in RI

ok we need titles but say if i get a car from RI i would need to 1st make sure it isnt salvage.. then if it isnt and i buy it i will need the bill of sale.. when i come to register the car in CT i give them the bill of sale and last registraion and they mail me a title ina few months

See that's my issue, I don't have a clue to what was stolen. I bought the vehicle complete, all one color, and it did have a swap in it, but I sold it because I didn't have any paperwork for it. I just don't want to spend another $1500 on it to get it running and then fail inspection because I bought the wrong shit I needed.PARTS FOR SALE
