  • Prelude Weight Reduction

I still havent even started working on my prelude yet (first car in the Honda game since my 3KGT shit out) so I probably wont even start doing carbon fiber work for awhile, but I figured I'd post here to see if carbon fiber is even worth it? I'm curious as to exactly how much you can reduce the weight if you were to carbon fiber the whole thing. I'm basically looking to see how much weight the doors and hood would take off. I have a 95 SE (SI with 40 more pounds of bullshit bells and whistles lol).

    Thanks

Thats around what I've heard, like 20-30, but I'm not completely sure. Those hoods are so damn much they better take off at least that lol

I think if I pull the engine I'm just gonna swap in an H22 haha. I gotta give some credit to Honda though, I didn't expect this car to be nearly as fast as it is. Even without Vtec im lovin my H23

Thanks man. And yea do you have any idea why? I had it parked next to my friends integra and my prelude actually looked a bit smaller... But the integra is like 200 pounds lighter lol

My boys f20b prelude si is 2850 on a weight scale. My ek 4 door is 2180. Lol just throwing it out there. I don't think you'll make up 700 lbs in carbon fiber.

Once my h23 gets up there I was planning on swapping in an H22, I wasnt even aware they had a DOHC H23 with a vtec lol. Still might go with the H22 because it redlines later though

Yea I don't think the carbon fiber really helps more than a 200-300 pounds tops, but its like 2-3k to do the whole car lol, thats why I made this thread to see if people actually felt it was worth it. And damn 2180? Did he take seats out or something? I always thought they were like 2500 or so lol.

It's my Ek 4 door that weighs 2180 and the only thing taken out is the spare tire cuz I sold it. Other wise it's full interior with a carseat. That's on e tho too and no passengers
