need help with iphone

its a 2g running custom 3.1.2 firmware which is jail broken and unlocked but it pops up as no service when i put my sim in. the iPhone is a little banged could it have been possible that something broke within the network components.

The antenna inside is probly broken it's happened too me twice. Shake it and see if u hear anything rattling around inside
