  • Side mount license plate?

It's a pretty trendy thing to have your license plate on the left or right side of your front bumper, question is, is it illegal? Because I just recently got a ticket for not having it mounted at all. (in windsheild)

Wondering if its illegal to have it off to the left or right side?

I highly (SERIOUSLY) doubt it. The idea is just to have it mounted. I got pulled over 3 times in a week. I finally said *Fuck it* and got a relocator and put it on the right side. I havent had an issue and I got two other tickets since then and they didnt say anything. (I've had a hard time with the 5-O lately)

I plead NOT guilty to all of 'em.

Doesnt matter where its at. & you suppose to get a warning, not a ticket. it really dont suppose to be in the window, suppose to be mounted atleast in the front and the back of the car..

x2 but you can get a ticket after numerous warnings.

idr where but i saw someone who put it behind the bumper in a red eg coupe. but its deffinitely legal to have it on the side. i had mine sitting next to my ebrake handle when i got pulled over for another reason in hartford and the guy pointed it out and said he wasnt guna give me a ticket but to be carefull without it on(that sentence made the guy not sound like the dick he was)

true, but since it his first time, shouldn't be gettinq no ticket... unless u got pull over before bout that, then thats a diff story!

I was pulling out of a CVS in bridgeport, and didn't have my lights on, I was merging with traffic, and as soon as my wheels hit the street pavement the cop pulled me over, thinking i was 'high or drunk'.. By the book, i guess he has the right to pull me over, but about 4 other squad cars pulled up with their lights on and about 8-10 officers had flashlights looking around the car and stuff, while the guy who pulled me over checked my information. I asked the lady cop, trying to be as nice as possible and remaining calm with all these cars and cops around... "So having my lights off is all I'm being pulled over for right?" I guess she thought i was mocking, I was basically, worried something was wrong because of all these cops for a simple moving violation. Well, the guy who wrote my ticket must of heard what I said, and flipped out. What started as having my lights off while driving, turned into, not having the license plate mounted, the windshield cracked, and an air freshener hanging from my mirror, as an 'obstruction of view' so.. 1 violation became 4, and now 495 dollar ticket was issued :/
