I remember i went to a "JDM Shop" about a year ago or so... and let me tell you i was very disappointed...
i walked in and saw some broke ass motors just laying on the floor with obviously broken sensors, oil all over them ,etc
on the wall all i saw was toe hooks and some ebay suspension, catback exhausts and in the main case all they really had was stickers, some ebay stuff, some really cruddy looking shift knobs and the most useful thing i saw was a set of golden eagle rods for a h22 that they wanted almost $75 more dollars then what they are worth online...
on top of that there was absolutely NO variety of JDM parts what so ever...
no parts for mitsubishi, subaru, toyota etc... JUST HONDA CIVICS.. thats it... nothing for accords, preludes (other than the rods), s2k's,fits, etc
yeah it was really boring..
so if you want a respectable/successful shop what I WOULD DO is:
have a decently sized shop
have a tleast a decent variety of parts for all or at least most of the different "JDM" manufacturers
have stuff that actually matters like, nitrous systems, turbo systems, build packages (like a set of good quality springs, retainers, valves for a certain motor), intake manifolds, exhaust's, rods, cranks, pistons, turbo timers, camshafts, idk.. things of that nature
If your going to sell motors make sure you at least clean them and make them presentable..
and yeah its ok to have toe hooks and shift knobs and stuff but please dont make that the main selling point of the store...because i know if i travelled 2 hours to a jdm store that's supposed to have all this cool stuff and all i leave the store with is a ebay shift knob that i payed $5 more that what it was worth online and a "JDM" sticker im gonna be pissed....
Just my 2 cents of what i would expect in a "jdm" store...
Edit: i agree with slim on the rare interior parts too, people jump on stuff like that and will pay top dollarLast edited by Ludin203; 12-20-2010, 05:27 PM.
