  • Shipping WTF-age

So today got a package and there is nothing in it, should have been forged rods. I haven't opened it (and won't till I can get resolution or something) but I can see somebody cut open the side with no stickers and removed the rods, then packing taped it shut. The shipping info states the weight was 2.33kg(5.1lbs), it was $25 to ship, it was insured for $100, and the package contained connecting rods. It came from Canada and I don't think the seller is trying to bone me in any way, shape, or form.

There is a sticker on the front that states (in red):
    Inquiry section
    Springfield NDC
    190 Fiberloid St.
    Springfield MA 01152-9702

    Received without contents

Nobody is picking up at the Springfield post office (naturally) so I am trying to find info other ways. The tracking states it was on hold at my post office yesterday along with an ominous S/A in pen with the same date on the side of the box. I also have checked craigslist/searchtempest for where they left canada and where they arrived in the US...no stupid thieves ;( Anybody have any insight?

I did that but they are 3 hours behind us or so. I sent him a pm and called him (number was on the package) and left a message.

If I do get one it will most likely have to be through the bank. I know if most people were selling something and it went missing between point a and point b they wouldn't give money back. I am not sure what to do yet and everything will be closed tomorrow so I guess I have plenty of time to come up with something good.

So after showing the empty package to the post office they pointed out that the postal system isn't exactly gentle when it is shipping and there is a chance the side got ripped off and the rods fell out. Likely, not in my mind but I am going to file paperwork anyways and see if the rods and hardware can be located.

We are also filing a claim with the canadian postal system to see if they will refund for the value of the rods and whatnot.

Did you paid for insurance for lost or damage items?
No? Well forget about it, there is NOTHING to do.

Did you paid for insurance for lost or damage items?
Yes? Well then show the empty box to post office and they need to do the refund for lost item. Which in this case I believe they will refund you $100.00 because that's what you said. It was insured for $100.00.

Case solved... Nothing else to say, I've been working with this for lots of years and that's how it works.

                    Good luck!

I showed them the box and they told me to file a complaint. They don't just give people money because people say "I didn't get what I was supposed to get." Shit doesn't work like that.

I don't know what you've been working with but it sounds like your talking about returning things to walmart or some shit.

I am sorry! You are true. I just said that like it was that easy. Well maybe because I been working with this for a lot of time I look at it that easy and I typed the way I feel it is but you are true, it takes a little while but you will get your money back. At least the 100 dollars of insurance.

The problem was when you received the package. Right there when you grab the package you was suppose to feel the box it wasn't that heavy and probably there was something wrong. If you opened in front of the mail person you would have him as a witness.

But they told you to file a complaint because they need to make sure the seller wasn't the one who send the empty box.

I have done this claims and the money get returned in about two or three weeks after they do the mandatory research, which I believe is:

See what was the package weight when it was the acceptance of this package and keep tracking the weight till they found there was a big change of weight.

Things that could happen could be a lot but the most common ones are:

1- The package had the same LOW (empty) weight every time. When it was accepted in the Post Office and the same low weight when it was out for delivery. If this was the case the responsible for this is the seller.

2- The package had the same weight every time but you received a wrong item. Again the seller is the responsible for this.

3- The package had some weight at the acceptance Post Office and then the package weight changed to very low which means the box was opened and the item inside was taken out. In this case the Post Office is responsible and they give the 100 dollars insured item.

4- Really commons are broken items in the process of shipping the package. In this cases the Post Offices said the seller is the responsible for the broken item because the item wasn't appropriated wrapped.

5- And the scams. The package have the same weight at ALL times and everything is perfect but the buyer said the box was empty when it is not true. When the case look something similar to this but it is not a scam, the buyer is saying the true then it takes forever to get that money returned.

So that's why it's really good to open the package in front of the mail person before accepting it. Or either way ask for a shipping signature which means they wont leave the package at the destination unless someone sign for receiving it.

Anyway... Did you have your item or your money returned by this far?

We are waiting to see what the results are from the canada post investigation. Still have to wait another 2 months to see if they find them in Ga...if they did and the guy has already given me a refund I would send him the cash back.

So the seller and I talked and he stated he thinks I have an inside man in the mass receiving station that stole the rods for me so I can swindle him out of rods/$270. As of rite now I am going to get the $100 insurance check so guess it's not a total loss.
